Dr. Gabriela Apfl Baumgartner

Dr. Gabriela Apfl Baumgartner looks back on 30 years of experience in Remote Sensing and in the Geo-Informatics business.

Since the foundation of MFB-GeoConsulting GmbH, together with Dr. M. Baumgartner in 1999, she is engaged in the company. First she took the position of a Deputy Director and Senior Scientist and was responsible for Sales, Marketing, Finances and Project Administration, together with customer-specific direct marketing activities for SW- and HW-Sales and Remote Sensing Projects. In January 2016 she switched to the position of the Joint Managing & Executive Director of MFB-Geo Consulting.    

She received her PhD from the Faculty of Earth Sciences, University of Salzburg (Austria), Dept. of Geography in the field of Analyses of Environmental Changes in Mediterranean Regions, based on computer aided geoprocessing, together with the invention of spatial developmentmodels for the Central Attica Region (Greece).

Continuing her specialization in Remote Sensing after she moved to Switzerland in 1991, she acted as a Consultant for the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) for environmental projects and as co-convenor for international congresses and workshops.

Today she lives with her husband Dr. M. Baumgartner and her two adult children in Solothurn. His extended knowledge and experience in Remote Sensing Business is still available for MFB-GeoConsulting. He acts in the background as an external consultant.
